Just got my new ESV Study Bible. I haven’t used a study bible in ages. Should be fun.
Easily my favorite Muppet character: http://bit.ly/pepethekingprawn
Christmas dinner was at 8:30pm today. Latest I’ve ever had it. But the beef tenderloin was not just the best I’ve ever made, but best EVER.
Combined with my wife’s outstanding scalloped potatoes and the Cameron Hughes Lot 96 South African Cab (2007), best Christmas dinner ever.
Got my wife a Kindle for Christmas. It’s the most amazing device I’ve ever seen. Far more amazing at the margin than the iPod. Bravo, Bezos.
Wife is home, we’re headed to sleep. Grandma & Grandpa should be home from the ER soon. She’s doing better.
My wife’s a surgeon. Working at midnight on Christmas morning. UNRELATED: When you eat steak, CHEW YOUR DAMNED FOOD before swallowing.
Just sent Grandma to the ER with soaring high blood pressure. Providentially, Mommy is already there working and is between cases right now.
Went to church. Now baby’s sleeping, Mommy’s taking out an appendix, Grandma apparently has a tropical fever (Dengue) & I’m baking cookies.
The Chicken Tortilla Soup is simmering, and I’m going to take a nap before we go out to deliver gifts to local friends.
When I get up too late to listen to Morning Edition on NPR’s local station, I stream KCRW’s broadcast from Santa Monica, CA.
Central Market 2 days before Christmas is one of my favorite stops.
Starbucks@Northpark near Dillard’s has always seemed to me like more of a subway platform than a place to get something to put in my mouth.
Princess Bride is on Bravo. I joined it at the “Battle of Wits”. Brilliant. Even after 21 years.
What, exactly, makes another Tennessee Christmas “Tender”?
Just rec’d my pre-Christmas shipment of @chwine Lots 81, 82, 86 & 96. Can’t wait to try the Stellenbosch Cab.
I’m the surrogate nanny for a half day today because in-laws are sick. Glad I didn’t have any morning obligations today.
I’ve made Camino my default browser again after 6+ months with FireFox. Going for the slim, sleek and low-demand-on-resources of Camino.
I know everyone thinks their child is the most beautiful, but seriously, ours IS the most beautiful: http://bit.ly/anna6months
BackBlaze has been running more-or-less continuously 11 days & has backed up 87GB/90GB so far. Amazing. Mozy, get my refund ready.
Is there a less Christ-honoring “Christmas” song than “Santa Baby?”
Okay, I’m beating this horse all the way to death, but BackBlaze is just wonderful. They promise to do online backup, and ACTUALLY do it.
Just chatted in Facebook with someone who’ hacked a friend’s account. Eerie.
Can anyone make a valid case for auto worker unions to continue to exist. Supporting artifically high wages doesn’t count.
Just went to resource-hog DallasNews.com. Not one, but TWO screen takeover ads on homepage. Belo continues to circle the drain. Sad. CueCat.
Good food on a cold, foggy evening: Homemade chili (w/ground turkey breast instead of beef), “Simply Lemonade” lemonade. Outstanding!
Just watched a Nightline report on MannheimSteamroller. Had no idea Chip Davis is worth >$100 million. His art glorifies God, tho he’s pagan
Watching “White House Week” on C-SPAN. Hours of programming to record and savor.
Caroline Kennedy for US Senate in NY: Qualified? No. Ridiculous choice? Yes. Likely? Yep. More change I can’t believe.
More on SundanceCatalog.com CS: The person I LiveChat’d with is the person who called me. She offered options/solutions. SO nice. Love them.
Just had_best_CS experience w/SundanceCatalog.com. LiveChat: I ordered wrong size: fixed fast. Then they called me: new size not avail:fixed
Listening to Matisyahu’s “Refuge” from “Live at Stubb’s”. Interesting.
Time to put up Christmas Tree #2. Love the pre-lit tree. Costco hits another home run.
Almost all the Christmas shopping was completed today. One day. With our 6 month-old in tow. God bless NorthPark!
Also, Javalato in Preston Center has closed, to the surprise of no one.
At Wild Birds Unlimited buying a gift card for a friend. It’s a whole other world, this bird stuff.
BackBlaze has been running non-stop for about 36 hours. 10GB uploaded so far. Already, the exeperience vis a vis Mozy is much, MUCH better.
This recession is awful. 4 registers going at Pottery Barn with lines at each one 3 people deep. Just awful.
At suggestion of @cgraber, BackBlaze is potential replacement for Mozy. Set up was instant, backup started immediately. http://bit.ly/14gIt
Just fired up @evernote for the first time. LOVE it. Have installed iPhone and Mac desktop clients. Genius syncing. Thanks @evernote!
Not 2 be superficial, but go see J.McLaughlin where I got wifey some great clothes for Xmas. Nice designs, good quality. http://bit.ly/iMXx
It’s sleeting at our house.
Do you think that if we weren’t an a-historical culture there’d be such shock at this economic cycle? This has all happened before.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi promises to “drain the swamp that is Washington.” Right. Think she’ll go after Rangel, Frank, et al? Yeah, me neither.
Didn’t realize tonight’s Boston Legal is the series finale. It’s dying right on time, if not one season too late.
What non-stakeholder supports a bailout of GM,Chrysler,Ford? It makes zero business sense not 2 bankrupt all 3 & let them fend 4 themselves.
Why is Mike Huckabee (now w/ his own FoxNews show) relevant at all? Did I miss something substantive or good about him in the primaries?
Remind me, again, why the federal gvt should bail out ANY failed business. When in history has that been shown to be wise?
I’m in line to get into a huge estate sale at Jimmy & Carl Westcott’s 20,000 sq ft house in University Park. Biggest sale I’ve ever seen.
Watching appliance “repair”“man” not able to repair our 2 month-old refrigerator. For those following this drama, yes, it’s been a week :(
